Royal HaskoningDHV deployed wastewater treatment solutions in Vietnam
(VnMedia) – Royal HaskoningDHV Vietnam has just signed a contract worth 9.5 million euros with Ba Ria Vung Tau Urban Development and Sewerage Company Limited (BUSADCO), providing comprehensive wastewater treatment solutions for more than 175,000 people in Phu My New Urban Area, near Ho Chi Minh City.
The project will improve the sanitation conditions for residents and some industrial zones are still discharging wastewater directly into the environment without any treatment, leading to high levels of environmental pollution. The project is funded by the Government of the Netherlands as part of the Infrastructure Development Assistance Program in Developing Countries (ORIO).
The project activities include: building 4 pumping stations, more than 100km of collection pipeline network, which can connect to 15,000 households and more than 1,000 SMEs. The project also includes technical support and staff training during the operation and maintenance phase of the plant.The wastewater treatment plant will use Royal HaskoningDHV’s proprietary Carrousel® technology. This is a technology system for biological treatment of urban and industrial wastewater which has been proven to bring high efficiency, reliability and cost savings; and has been used in more than 1,500 wastewater treatment plants worldwide. The plant will have a treatment capacity of nearly 30,000 m3 / day.
Mr. Hoang Duc Thao, Chairman and General Director of BUSADCO said: “The investment in construction of a complete wastewater collection, treatment and drainage system for Phu My New Urban Area is an urgent issue and is top priority for the socio-economic development of Ba Ria Vung Tau province ”.
The wastewater treatment project for Phu My urban area is the third project funded by ORIO, implemented by Royal HaskoningDHV in Vietnam. These projects will contribute to improving and improving the quality of life for about 400,000 people.
